List Of Free VPN Software and Web Proxy Servers To Browse Anonymously

Updated by: Alex George on March 01, 2025

Welcome to the Network Engineering tutorial section by CoreNetworkz Tech Solutions. Today, I will explain proxy servers and share a list of free web proxies.

Some of my colleagues have mixed feeling about today's topic because the sole purpose of CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions is to develop applications for network admins to regulate the employee's Internet activities.

However, many readers asked me in the comments and feedback to write about workarounds to bypass the network firewall blocks. A college student, Steve Isaacs, repeatedly commented on it. So, I dedicate this article to Steve and his friends.

The Working Of a Web Proxy Server

Jason Lucas asked me to explain working a web proxy. He has no technical background and wants a simple explanation. Okay, Jason, I define the role of a proxy as:

A proxy server is a middleman between your computer and the web server.

Are you confused? Let me explain it.

Consider you are accessing Google from your computer using a proxy named X. Here, your computer is not receiving information directly from Google, but X is receiving services and sending it back to your computer. So, the web server does not know your computer. It thinks it served X.

So, by using a proxy server, theoretically, you can browse anonymously, and it also helps bypass firewall restrictions.

Web Proxy Services and Privacy Protection

I frequently receive questions about privacy concerns while using a web proxy. Even yesterday, I received two comments on it. So, let me answer them in this section.

Proxy servers are iterating between your computer and the rest of the Internet. A good web server protects the user's identity by following the two steps below.

  1. The request from your computer goes to the proxy server.

  2. The proxy server resubmits the request to the actual destination.

So, they will get the IP address of the proxy server instead of your computer's IP address.

A high-quality Web Proxy Protects your privacy.

I hope you understand how a web proxy protects user privacy.

Robin Aliyev asked in the comment section about how a proxy server bypasses network firewall restrictions.

I believe you understand my explanation of how a web proxy protects user privacy. The same principle helps to bypass the firewall. The firewall detects the address of the proxy server instead of the blocked website. So, the packets will go through the firewall.

There are two types of Proxy services.

CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions defines two types of Proxy services. Please note that I mentioned Proxy Service, not 'Proxy Server'. You will understand the difference after completing this article.

  1. Client-based services (Software Installed on your PC)

  2. Web-based proxy services (No software installation )

If you expect high anonymity, you must go for premium servers. Still, a web-based proxy server is enough for ordinary uses. Here, I give a list of popular free servers.

  1. A List of Client-Based Proxy Services

Please note that some proxy software products might contain malware, and the users should use them at their own risk. CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions does not provide a guarantee.

    • CCProxy

You can download and install it on your computer to browse anonymously. In addition to anonymous surfing, CCProxy offers features like DSL sharing, cable modem sharing, wireless sharing, satellite sharing, parent proxy server connection sharing, etc. To download and install CCProxy, click on the link provided below.

    • Tor Proxy

I recommend Tor Proxy if you are looking for a free, highly anonymous service. You can read more about it here.

I believe you have downloaded and tested the above client-based proxy services. Let me know your experience in the comment section.

  2. Free Web Based Proxy Servers

I understand many users are not interested in installing proxy applications on their computers and phones. James Wayne, a news reporter, asked me for a list of proxy services without installation. Let me share a list of free web-based proxy services.

Advanced Services Done by Proxy Services and VPN

Gregory Savio asked me about the advanced uses of a VPN or Proxy in network engineering. Yes, Gregory. CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions is an experienced firm in computer network engineering. Let me share a few advanced proxy uses here to answer your questions.

Proxy servers have many uses other than anonymous surfing and bypassing firewall restrictions. In large enterprises, the proxy server works with a gateway server that separates the enterprise network from the outside network and protects the enterprise network from outside intrusion.

That means a good proxy server can act as a firewall. It can also act as a cache and virtually increase the Internet speed.

Testing a Proxy

Samuel Paty asked an interesting question in the comment section. He asked me if there are tools to check the anonymity of a web proxy server.

Check the IP Address while using a Web Proxy Service.

Yes, Samuel, there are tools to check your IP address when you use a proxy server. Let me share a few.

    Hello Alex George,

Thank you for this helpful article. It cleared many doubts. However, I do not want to install proxy software on my work laptop. I am a freelance News Reporter and prefer a proxy service without installation.
