How to Install Linksys WUSB54GC Wireless G USB Adapter

WUSB54GC is a USB wireless adapter from Linksys. It is easy to use, unlike traditional WiFi adapters which are inserted into PCI slot. After the use, it is very easy to unplug the USB WiFi adapter and we can use it on another computer. This tutorial explains how to install Linksys WUSB54GC on a Windows computer and troubleshooting any issues with its working. Driver software comes with a setup disc or you can download it directly from the Linksys official website. If you are not familiar with this device, you can check the below image.

WUSB54GC Installation Process

To install this device on your computer, follow the instructions provided here.
  1. Connect Wireless Adapter

    Plug the adapter into a USB port of your PC. Make sure the power light is on.

  2. Installing WUSB54GC driver

    Run the setup disc comes with the device. If you don't have the setup CD, you can download the driver from the Linksys website by mentioning the version number of WUSB54GC.
    Installing driver

    Here we can specify the driver location by browsing the window to the CD drive. To perform it, we need to check the option install from a specific location and click OK.

  3. Windows Asks Whether Continue

    Linksys driver has not yet passed the Windows logo test and we need to select the option "continue anyway" to install it. After completing the steps we need to click on the finish button.

Scan Wireless Networks Using Linksys WiFi Adapter

After completing the installation, WUSB54GC starts a scan for available WiFi networks. When the scan completes, it will show the list of WiFi networks and you can choose the network to connect. If you do not know how to do it, follow the instructions below.
  1. Right click on the wireless symbol on the system tray
    View available Wireless networks

  2. Click on view available wireless networks

  4. Select the network and click on connect button

    Now if it is a secured wireless network we need to enter the wireless key and click connect.

    What if the pc doesn't recognize the device.. it doesn't turn on the green light..?
    Are needed special drivers for windows xp?

  2. If the green light is not shown , you need follow the below steps.

    1. Unplug the adapter and wait 15 sec,then reconnect

    2. Restart your computer and check whether any new device found alert on your computer

    3. Connect the adapter on other computer and check whether it is detecting on not.

    For WUSB54GC we need to install the drivers in Windows XP.

    I'm trying to connect my laptop (Vista) using a WUSB54GC. However, instead of asking for the network key, etc, I'm asked for un/pass AND a logon domain. What is the logon domain???
