It is one of my old articles about clearing cookies on the Firefox browser when the Mozilla team updated the browser to a more complex layout. The new UI was not user-friendly, and many Firefox users found difficulties deleting cookies and site data.
Naturally, CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions received many comments from my regular readers for support. I wrote this tutorial to answer those support comments.
However, the Mozilla team started developing more user-friendly UIs. So, I do not think anyone will have difficulties deleting cookies and site data in the current Firefox browser interfaces.
I feel this post is unnecessary since Firefox started having a simple UI.
Since it is one of the most linked posts on this blog, I do not delete the old content but improve the article with information about removing cookies and browsing history from the latest versions. So, let us check the different ways to clear cookies from the latest Mozilla Firefox browsers.
How To Clear Cookies From the Latest Firefox Browser Version?
Are you looking for the easiest method to delete cookies from the latest Firefox browser? It is simple.
The first step is to click the Firefox menu icon. I know some new users may not know what is a Firefox menu icon.

It is the three horizontal bar icon at the top-right of the browser window.
The second step is to click the 'Settings' from the menu. Now, click the 'Privacy & Security' from the left menu.

You will see a Clear Data button under the Cookies and Site Data heading.
Tap on the Clear Data button. Confirm the action to delete the Firefox cookies from your device.
See, I told you how easy the steps are. Since I explained the simplest way to clear Firefox browser cookies, I will answer a few questions I received in the comment section.
Problems With Firefox Browser Cookie Clearing
I will first answer a question from Sunitha Abraham about her difficulties with clearing Firefox browser cookies on her computer. She sent me a support request email and a comment regarding this issue.
Sunitha could not clear cookies due to an error 'Corrupted cookie file.'
After a detailed analysis, I found the reason behind the error. It was due to a corruption in the 'cookies.SQLite' file. I suggested Sunitha delete the file, and it worked.
The second support question I will answer is from Abigail Johnson. She said she could not (completely) delete cookies from the Firefox browser. She did not mention any error message. So, I can only give a general solution to Abigail.
I suggest Abigail start Windows Task Manager (by pressing Windows + Shift + Esc keys together) and kill the active Firefox processes. Then restart the browser and try to clear cookies. I believe, this time, she will be able to delete the cookies permanently.
Let me conclude this article now. Today, I explained the easiest method to delete cookies and answered a few questions regarding problems with cookie clearing. If you have more questions, let me know in the comment section.

Completely agree. They need to bring that option back. Just switched to 3.53 and I hate that they have made it tedious to delete cookies. Chrome 3 keeps it like FF 3.0.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the info. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment.
Deletevery very helpful thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, Jesse.
DeleteThanks I was actually looking for a method to clear cookies in my Firefox 3.5.5 Why do they hide this option and don't let us remove cookies from the tool menu itself??? any idea
ReplyDeleteOK , I agree cookies in our computer should be removed for our security. Firefox should place that option in main tab itself.
ReplyDeleteMozilla team finally put back the clear cookies option in front menu. I don't know why they made such a stupid change in Firefox 3.5 glad finally they learned customers way
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help. I was looking for a way to clear cookies in my Firefox browser. It seems disappeared I thought.

Hello Alex George,
ReplyDeleteThank you for this tutorial. It helped a lot. I have a question similar to the topic you covered in this tutorial. While clearing cookies, I got a Corrupted cookie file error. What is it?
Hello Sunitha,
DeleteWelcome to CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions. The corrupted cookie file error is due to the corruption of the 'cookies.sqlite' file. You should delete this file or update the browser to fix this error.
Hello Alex,
ReplyDeleteI cannot delete cookies at all. Every attempt to delete cookies failed. It seems Firefox still keeps the old cookies even after I press the clear data button. Please help me.
Hello Abigail,
DeleteSure, I will help you fix the error. Do you see any error messages? If not, I suggest you kill the Firefox processes using the Windows task manager and restart the browser. Then, try to follow the steps I explained in this article.
