Compare LG Optimus 3D & HTC Sensation -Best Smart Phone Option

Published by: Alex George on May 23, 2011
Both these phones (LG Optimus and HTC Sensation) have an element of 3D technology, though the LG’s pure 3D screen is more technologically forward thinking than the Sensation’s 3D graphics. However, the two are also part of the new generation of dual-core phones – so let’s compare them.

Compare Processor of LG Optimus and HTC Sensation

The Optimus has a dual-core 1GHz chip with 512mb of RAM whereas the Sensation is running 1.2GHz with 768mb of RAM. On paper and in real life the Sensation is the more powerful device and this does give it a lead. In real life, both are very powerful and there is little in the way of lag in either machine, making this fact not so much of an issue.

Camera Quality

This does offer a different story; the camera of Optimus is a notable 3D flasher, meaning it has two lenses for recording in 3D. Both can record 1080p, though the Optimus also records 3D in 720p for play on the screen. The LG though does have a 5mp as opposed to the Sensation’s 8mp camera for stills. This makes the Sensation a better still life camera, though the 3D capabilities of the LG are very impressive.

Screen

Big screens are increasingly the rage and a 4.3in display is on the show on both these phones. Obviously, you will have gathered from what is previously mentioned that the Optimus has a 3D capable screen. However, the screen itself isn’t as capable as the HTC’s and displays images in 480x800 (WVGA) compared to the near 540x960 (qHD) of the Sensation. The display of Optimus is just not the amazing quality of the NOVA screen of late on other LG phones and so the Sensation offers better colors and clarity when viewing in 2D.

User Interface

LG is currently using Android 2.2 with the device, upgradable to Gingerbread 2.3 in time. The HTC is equipped straight up with the latest offering and is a dream to use, especially when the Sense interface made by HTC Sensation is taken on board. This really is a smooth operator and though the Optimus is good the HTC is better.

Is LG Optimus or HTC Sensation More Attractive?

Looks wise the HTC is an attractive and very nice phone in the hand. Its uni-body aluminum style is strong yet not too heavy. It’s a simple style that works. The LG is also quite pretty but is heavier than the HTC, weighing in at 168g to the HTC’s 148g. It’s also noticeably thicker, though this may be caused by the 3D technology on board. It’s a stylish phone though and very typical of LG who generally offer fashionable devices.
