Facing Connection Issues With Tata Photon & Increase Lower Speed

Published by: Alex George on December 27, 2013
I have received many comments on my previous tutorial Tata Photon Plus review and most of them are related to Photon connection issues and frequent disconnections from the Internet. Majority of Tata Photon users are satisfied with the Internet connection speed and services but some users are not. This article covers the major reasons for getting slower connection speed from products like Tata Photon Plus, Whiz, Photon 3G,  3G+ and Photon Max. In addition to the speed issues, some users get the error connection terminated when they connect the Internet using a USB modem. Some users get other error messages with error codes like error 633, error 769, error 777, error 718 etc.

Reasons For Tata Photon Connection Issues
  1. No Coverage at Your area

  2. Having Obstacles like Buildings, Thick Walls etc

  3. Too many users in your area

  4. DNS Issues cut down the speed

  5. Issues on your computer like software conflicts, compatibility issues etc

  6. The long distance between you and Tata  tower

Photon Max Shows Full Signal Strength But Failed to Connect
Some Tata Photon users see full signal strength but having difficulties in connecting to the network. In most cases, the reason for connection failure is wireless interference or a high number of users even though Photon Max is showing full signal strength on your computer.

Tata Photon Max Connection Error Codes & Solutions
Tata Photon Plus and Max show error codes when USB modem fails to connect to the network. These error codes help us to troubleshoot the issues and fix them. Some of the common Tata Mobile Broadband error codes and solutions are provided below.
  1. Error 777: The Connection Attempt failed due to Remote Computer Out of Order

  2. Error 651: The Modem (Connecting Device) has Reported an Error

  3. Error 619: A Connection to the Remote Computer Could not be Established

Getting Lower Speed From Tata Photon Max
Some users complain about getting lower speed from Tata Photon Max and Plus services. Even they say, Tata Max users might get minimum of 512 kbps and Photon Plus users must get minimum 256 kbps. It is valid for users with an unlimited plan even after completing their speed booster plan. For example, if the speed booster of an unlimited user is 5GB, he will get a speed of 256kbps for Photon Plus and 512 kbps for Max service. So to troubleshoot the lower speed from them, follow the steps below.
  1. Check whether your Speed Booster Pack is reached. If yes you will get a slower connection.

  2. Make sure your computer with the modem is not behind a thick wall

  3. Clear computer Cache and Temp files

  4. Make sure no other programs installed on your computer is consuming bandwidth. Eg: torrents, software updates etc

  5. Make sure your laptop is not infected

    Thank you sir,

I was only getting Photon Whiz speed for my Photon Plus connection. After reading your guide only I know, I can change the mode to hybrid. Now I am getting full speed (not full but better than before) from my Photon connection.

It is possible to have slower speed even if you have full signal strength when maximum number of users are using the same network under your tower. You must notify this issue to Photon customer support.
