Welcome to CoreNetworkZ Tech Solutions. Today, I share one of my personal experiences in my blogging life.
Occasionally, I review older articles on CoreNetworkZ.com to ensure quality and reliability. As a technology blog, it is critical to ensure the reliability of the older articles and update them if they have outdated information.
This time, while updating one older tutorial on my blog, I found a hidden script at the end of the post.
You might be wondering what script I found on CoreNetworkZ.com. The hidden script found in my older blog post is:
Since I composed the article very long ago, I couldn't remember much about it, but I am sure I didn't put the code. I did some research about it and found the following information.
I think it is better to share the details with my readers. It will help you if you face the issue.
Reasons to Have This Script
Many users complained about having this code on their websites on different platforms like Blogger, WordPress, Joomla, etc.
Archana Devadas, a recipe blogger, commented that she thought this code was part of WordPress. I run CoreNetworkZ.com on Blogspot platform.
So it is not because of having one particular blogging software but an entirely different reason.
Then what might be the reason for this hidden script?
Most online discussions explain a Firefox add-on named "browser highlighter" as the culprit. Since that post was composed very long back, I cannot remember whether I used that add-on at that time. But the chances are high.
Is it a Virus Infection?
I do not think this script is an infection because none of the browser security Apps blocked CoreNetworkZ.com. If this code is part of a virus infection, I will get a malware infection warning in Google Search Console.
However, I don't feel safe to have it on my blog, and now my priority is to check every published post and delete the script if it is there.
I understand that many Webmasters worry about this hidden script. I feel that from commenters like Sara Frumento.
I strongly suggest you to check your older blog posts and verify this script is not there. If the script is there, I recommend you remove it.
How to Prevent This Script From Appearing On Your Blog?
You should use the latest version of web browsers to avoid issues like this.
It is equally important to not install any suspicious add-on on your browser. I believe I must have some add-ons installed on my browser, and that made this issue.
Now, I am careful about it and updating the browsers whenever they have updates. I recommend performing a weekly system scan (your PC) using a reputed security software.
Wow! Thank you, Alex. My name is Archana, and I run a recipe blog. I noticed the same code below each post. I am not from a technical background. So, I thought WordPress created this code. After reading your article, I deleted all that code. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, Archana.
